Blog - 15th November

It was great to chat with lots of you at consultation meetings this week and to share the super progress of your children. If you were unable to book an appointment online or if you had missed your appointment please don't hesitate to get in touch to re arrange.

Back in the classroom the children have been considering Remembrance and understanding the significance of the poppy.  They have used a wide variety of media and materials to make some gorgeous poppies which are on display in our classroom.  Why not take a look if you are in to drop off in the morning?

In our mathematical work this week, the children have begun to find 1 more than a given number.  Numicon has been our friend as we have done this and by adding the Numicon number 1 to a chosen piece of Numicon, the children have seen very clearly what the new total is.  Lots of children have then gone on to write this as a number sentence.  For example:

5 + 1 = 6

It would be great if you could practise finding one more at home over the weekend.  You can do this with fingers, with toys, with fruits of just verbally! Remember to upload this learning onto your child's learning journal.

It was super to see all of the children in their Children In Need outfits on Friday.  Thank you for your generous donations.  We have chatted today about some of the difficulties that some children face and we’ve realised how lucky we are.  If you watch any of the television coverage on Friday evening, it would be good to take the opportunity to talk about some of the work that the money raised funds.  The children enjoyed being super heroes in our PE work this morning by completing the super hero assault course!

We wish you all a very healthy weekend and hopefully we’ll all be feeling well and ready for action on Monday morning!
