Blog 25th October

We’ve made it to half term!

Well done to all members of Plum Class for an excellent first half term.  We’re really excited to get going with more fabulous learning after our well-earned break.

It’s been a bit of a bread theme this week.  We made some bread on Monday and enjoyed the story of the Feeding of the Five Thousand from the bible which linked well. Through this story, we have explored the concept of kindness and all of the children have identified kind acts that they do and kindness that has been shown to them by others.  On Tuesday we enjoyed bread that one Plum Class member had made with her Granddad.  It was delicious and Mrs Grimes cut it into so many pieces that it almost fed 5000!

Later in the week, Mrs Vicky told us the story of the Little Red Hen and she made MORE bread for us to enjoy.  We sequenced this story and some of us even made our own versions.

Chicken Licken is another great bread related story.  Maybe you could enjoy this at home over the holidays.

In our number work, we’ve been continued our addition work.  As well as creating part, part whole representations for number stories, we have also written calculations using + and =.

PE involved jumping again this week.  Everyone jumped higher and further than they did last week and technique showed great improvement.

Whatever you get up to, I hope you have lots of happy family time together.

See you all on Tuesday 5th November when we’ll be getting into the bonfire spirit!
