COVID-19 Updates

13th March 2020

Dear Parents / Carers

RE:  COVID – 19

As a school we always take the safety and welfare of our students extremely seriously.  We have and will continue to comply with all Department for Education (DFE) and Public Health England (PHE) advice regarding Coronavirus.  As you will recognise this is an evolving situation and we as a school receive updated guidance on a daily basis.

The current advice remains in place that no school should close in response to a suspected (or confirmed) COVID-19 case unless advised to do so by Public Health England.

The Government announced yesterday that we have entered the ‘delay phase’ and anyone displaying upper respiratory symptoms i.e cough, cold and / or fever must self-isolate for 7 days.   This strategy will help in delaying the peak of infection and applies to all staff, children and other adults.

Children must not attend school if unwell with a cough or high temperature.  If children become unwell with a fever or cough / cold while in school they must be collected from school and will be asked not to attend for 7 days.

Practising good personal hygiene, covering coughs / sneezes, washing hands often and thoroughly and avoiding touching eyes, nose, mouth is the most important way we can  prevent the spread of COVID-19.  We continue to remind children of the ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ strategy and to regularly wash their hands with soap and water.

We will continue to update you as necessary and thank you for your co-operation.

Yours sincerely

Jenny Smith
Head Teacher
