Day 4 - Thursday 7th of January

Day 4

Maths

Following on from looking at o'clock and half past, today we are looking at quarter past and quarter to. Once again, there is a video for you to watch and then a task to complete. Continue to remember that the minute hand is longer than the hour hand and that where the time is quarter past, the minute hand is quarter of the way past the hour on the 3 and where the time is quarter to, the minute hand is quarter of the way to the hour on the 9. Don't forget to continue to use your homemade clock to help you.

If you are someone who is already quite confident in telling the time and you need an extra challenge, I have attached some powerpoints and work on telling the time in 5 minute intervals and to the nearest minute which can use over the next couple of days. When you open the powerpoints, click on 'slide show' and then 'from current slide'. You will find these tabs at the top of the powerpoint presentation. Please note, I don't expect you to do these. They are here if you feel you are ready for them : )

English
Retell the story of ‘Spy Fox’ in your own words. Use the 'Sentence Openers Mats' to help you to vary your sentence starters. I wonder how many different sentence starters you can use? Also remember:
  • Finger spaces

  • Capital letters and full stops

  • Conjunctions to join ideas or give more detail ( and, but, so and because)
  • To be a brave speller

  • Wow words ( adjectives)

  • ** I have attached the phonics mat that we use in the classroom. This will help you with using the correct phonic sounds in your writing.
