When we arrived at Forest School there were lots of little birds flying around, the children weren't sure what kind of birds they were.
So we crept closer to get a better look. We looked in our bird reference books to see what kind of birds they were.
We did a team building/problem solving game today.
'Team Robin' and 'Team Pigeon' had to race against each other to the finish line.
They weren't allowed to stand on the ground as it was Lava!! They could only walk on the stepping stones.
They had to work out how to get the whole team across the finish line using only 5 stepping stones.
They soon realised they needed to talk to each other and work as a team.
We talked about what the children could do differently if it wasn't going to plan.
If they stepped on the grass they had to do 5 star jumps.
'Team Robin' crossed the finish line first.
The children wanted to race again.
Today was the wettest Forest School so far. We needed to build a shelter to keep dry.
It was pretty cold today so we lit the kelly-kettle so the children could have a warm drink.
Whilst we waited for the Kelly-Kettle to heat the water, the children played hide and seek to keep warm.
We discussed how to keep safe near a fire and what you need to have near by, for example- Water, Sand, Fire blanket, First-Aid kit.
The children really enjoyed the warm drink. It warmed their hands and their tummies.
We played 'Eye-spy' it had to be something natural. The children were really good at guessing.
The children spyed- Leaves, Trees, Birds, Carrots, Sunflowers and grass.
Ready to go and play again before home time.
