Dear Parents / Carers,

COVID-19 - Home Learning for Children

Your child has been provided with a pack of work to complete in the event of school closure. The pack contains a selection of SPaG and Maths activities. As I’m sure you’ll agree, it is important that all children continue to engage with daily learning tasks with the aim of consolidating and securing the knowledge, skills and understanding that they have worked so hard to develop throughout the last two terms.

Following the government’s advice of Wednesday 18th March, the school is required to close from Friday 20th March. Therefore, from the week beginning 23rd March class teachers will communicate with children and parents via the school website: www.swansfield.northumberland.sch.uk in the form of a weekly blog. This will be found on your child’s class page. Details of the home learning tasks that need to be completed each week will be outlined along with additional resources that can be used to support the children.

Weekly home learning tasks for children in Years 3 and 4 will include a set of spellings, a selection of work for English and Maths as well as the expectation that all children access Times Table Rockstars to complete their allocated sessions. Your child has already been given their username and password but these were sent home this week along with instructions for how to log in should they be unsure.

It is also important that your child reads as much as possible across a number of genres each week. Please take the time to discuss the texts that your child is reading as well as identify pieces of vocabulary that they may not understand.

In addition to all of the above, there are also a number of educational games on School360 which can be found by clicking on the ‘Resources’ tab.

Should you or your child need to contact class teachers regarding the home learning tasks, this can be done so using the following School360 email addresses as the platform was specifically designed for this purpose.

Chestnut:      katie.moffet@school360.co.uk
Maple:           craig.warburton@school360.co.uk

As I’m sure you will appreciate, this is an evolving situation and we as a school receive updated guidance on a daily basis. We will continue to update you as necessary and thank you for your co-operation.

Kind regards,

Mrs Smith, Miss Moffet and Mr Warburton
