Head Teacher's Blog 13.12.21

13th December 2021

At last we have got to the last week of term, we have to admit that it doesn’t feel quite as Christmassy without the nativities and pantos that would normally have taken place, however all the children are putting the final touches to their virtual performances which will be shared on the website by the 16th December and we hope you’ll enjoy them.

Our Christmas lunch and class parties will be held on Wednesday 15th December. The children can come into school in their party clothes to enjoy the festivities and hopefully a few surprises. Thanks to the Friends for paying for the children’s Christmas dinners – please let the office know if your child is having a packed lunch.

On the last day of term, we will all be wearing our Christmas jumpers with school uniform - donations in aid of Save the Children can be made via the Just giving page.

PE & swimming lessons are still on next week but no rugby on Wednesday due to parties. Please can children in KS1 & UKS2 put their Christmas jumpers on top of their PE kit on Friday.   After school clubs have now finished. Please watch out for PE information for next half term being shared this week. Music lessons will take place as usual on Wednesday and Thursday.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the Friends of Swansfield who have worked really hard to create this year’s Window Trail.  There are nearly 20 windows across both local businesses and houses for you to go and search out! You can pick a trail up from the School Office, the windows will be up until the end of term so there is plenty of time to go and have a look at them all. It is only £2 to grab one of these great trails and you will be automatically entered into a prize draw. There are 3 fab prizes, a Bauble Wreath courtesy of Northumberland Pom Poms, a Classic Wreath courtesy of Alnwick Gallery and a Chocolate wreath. The Friends will draw from all the entries on Thursday 16th December so make sure you pick your trail up before then!

This week we have been particularly impressed with –  Frankie T, Toby C, Mae H, Jack B, Gracie S, Daisy O, Olivia L, James L, Archie P, Sophie H, Tia W and Freya C our stars of the week. Well done everyone, an electronic certificate will be with you soon.

All that remains is for us to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year. We’ve shared a piece of Christmas music that always makes us smile at Swansfield - Feliz Navidad. It’s one that our school choir enjoys singing so much and has been missed for another year. Let’s hope that next year, we can share Christmas together once again.  We re-open on Wednesday 5th January 2022 for the Spring Term.
