Head Teachers' Blog 3.5.22

1st May 2022

Last week we returned to school following the Easter holiday with enthusiasm for learning and positive attitudes. Thursday afternoon was particularly peaceful as the children participated in the sponsored silence in aid of Ukraine - please send any sponsor money into school as soon as possible, many thanks.

A full array of after school clubs  along with choir and sports coaching are now up and running, the children are enjoying these extra curricular activities and making the most of these opportunities.

We are looking forward to welcoming visitors back in for assemblies and  this week Chris Friend and Sarah Hamer from Alnwick Baptist Church will be leading our Wednesday afternoon assemblies.

Looking forward, the Friends are organising a Movie Night on Friday 20th May, tickets will be on sale soon and that more details will follow in an email later this week.

As the weather warms up and the sun is getting stronger please remember to bring sun hats for outdoor play and apply sunscreen before school.

Can we also gently remind you about uniform; there are a lot of children coming to school in trainers rather than school shoes and also we request that black leggings / joggers,  white t-shirts and purple jumpers should be worn for PE.  Please remember that children should not wear earrings at school.

Last week we were particularly impressed with Jake Fordham - Scott, Greyson Lowery, Eliza Wilson,  Ella Williams, Chelsea Fordham-Scott, Lexi Adamson, Aiden Alam,  Marshall Duffill, Abi Oliver, Tilly Ostle, Kye Mattison, Ollie Forster and Coburn Skene  - our stars of the week, well done everyone.

We hope that everyone enjoys Bank Holiday Monday. In celebration, our music this week is a traditional May day folk song entitled May Song. We wonder which instruments you can hear. Can you find out about traditional May Day celebrations? If you find anything out, tell us when you see us in assembly this week.
