Home learning Friday 11th September

Well, here we are at the end of our first full week together in Plum Class.
I'm so sorry that my interactions with you as parents have had to be so distant, it's certainly not how we would usually do business.  However, I want to reassure you - and the photos will show you this - that your children are happy, settled and enjoying their time in Plum Class.

We've based our first few weeks around a story called The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas.  You'll find many versions on Youtube if you want to look at it together.  This story has given us the perfect platform to talk about our varied emotions and has helped us to recognise when we're really happy or when we've got something troubling us.  The children have made their own Colour Monsters and we've created a 'box full of happiness' display within our classroom which the children love to look at.

This week, we've spent much time thinking about 2D shapes.  We've named them, found the in the environment, talked about their properties (the corners and sides) and we've even had a go at making pictures and faces with them.  You could go on a shape hunt at the weekend if you have the opportunity.  We've particularly focused upon circle, triangle, square, oblong and hexagon.

Mainly, during these first days, we've spent time playing with your children and we feel that we've really got to know them all.

I hope the collection of photos I've added give you a real flavour of the fun we've had and the new friends we've all made.

Can't wait to get our Reception journey started!

See you all next week.
Have a great weekend.
