Home Learning Week Beginning 25th January

Hi Guys

Welcome to week four! Thank you guys for keeping me posted with pictures and home learning. Parents, you are doing an amazing job.

Monday: This week I thought we could keep to the bird theme and develop on from what you guys have all been learning about at home.

Here is a link below to listen and watch the story of Owl babies.

If you have this book at home and your little ones prefer to read the story this is great too!

Here is another link with tips and advice to support reading with your little one.

Tuesday: How many owls can you remember from the story? It maybe you want to read the story again to count using your fingers. Can you find this number in your house? Parents, this a great way for children to start recognising numbers in their environment and surroundings, I know a lot of you have been practising writing using the dots, why don’t you have a go at writing the number?

Wednesday: Where do the owls live in the story? Help your child describe things that they saw in the place where Sarah, Percy and Bill live.  They could describe colours, objects/things, weather etc. Can you have a go at making your own story scene using things you might have at home, in the garden, or find things on your daily walk? You can use paint, sticks, mud, grass, leaves, branches, bark, crayons, pens, pencils, feathers, cotton wool.

Thursday: In the story mummy owl leaves her babies. I want you to think about how the owl babies might have felt when their mummy left the owl babies? And why do you think their mummy left? Parents this will help children recognise feelings/empathy for others as well as using good communication skills while discussing it with you. There are no right or wrong answers, simply encourage vocabulary, learn new words understand feelings. Also discuss how the owl babies felt when their mummy returned.

Friday: Let’s learn a new song! (To the tune London bridge)

Flap your wings and fly around,

fly around, fly around

Flap your wings and fly around

Just like an owl!

Open you eyes big and wide

Big and wide, big and wide

Open you eyes big and wide

Just like an owl!

Land on the ground and hop along

Hop along, hop along

Land on the ground and hop along

Just like an owl!

Turn your head and say hoo hoo

Say hoo hoo, say hoo

Turn your head and say hoo hoo

Just like an owl!

Happy home learning guys, bop me an email for support.

Stay safe, Claire
