Home Learning Week Beginning 4th January

Good morning Cherries!
I'm so sorry that we can't be together today and a special mention to all of our new Cherries who should have been starting with us today.  We can't wait to meet you all vey soon!
In the meantime, here are some fun jobs for you to be getting on with at home...

Monday: Fruit skewers/faces – I love fruit and I know lots of you Cherries do too. What fruit skewers can you make? They could have your favourite fruit on them like a rainbow. My favourite fruit is kiwi, banana, peach, nectarine and melon. You could even make a fruit face. Have a go and see what you can make. Don’t forget to help mum/dad cut the fruit up safely and watch those fingers.

Tuesday: Let’s make some playdough here is an easy and simple recipe for you guys.
1. Two cups of plain flour into a bowl
2. Half a cup of salt into the same bowl
3. Tablespoon of cream of tartar into the bowl
4. Add in any extras likes glitter, herbs or food colouring to represent snow, winter ice.
5. Adults only pour a cup of boiling water into the bowl and mix add extra if need be.
6. Allow to cool and get mixing. What can you make with your playdough? Snowflakes, snowman, robin, snow balls.

This activity can support our physical development, mathematical skills, expressive arts and design and as always, communication and language

Wednesday: Nature prints using paint, mud or snow..if we are lucky. This winter we have had lots of rain making the grass super muddy. Why not choose some natural objects and do some nature printing – you could use stones, pebbles, feet, sticks. Identify each one with your child and make a lovely nature winter print picture. Maybe you could make welly prints in the mud if you are out for a walk today.

This activity supports our communication and language, physical Development and our understanding of the world

Thursday: Let's go on a sound hunt – you can choose your destination or simply sit in your garden. En route to your destination/garden what sounds can you hear? During winter we can hear lots of sounds of nature such as birds singing, soggy, wet or crunchy leaves, frosty grass, lots of rain drops splashing on the ground, jumping in the muddy puddles, carefully standing on ice to hear it crackle... the sounds are endless!

Follow the links below and have fun. Get your playdough at the ready! This can be done daily as part as your home schooling routine.
