24th June 2019

Time is certainly flying by and we are packing in as many exciting end of term events as possible.

Sporting events are high on the agenda this week with both our infant and junior sports afternoons scheduled for Wednesday and Friday respectively. Unfortunately, I’ll miss most of the Junior Sports day due to an invitation to a meeting for the North of Tyne Education Challenge but I’ll be there at the beginning to wish everyone good luck.

The year 6 girls football team and both the lower and upper KS2 athletics teams are representing the Alnwick Schools at the County Championships on Thursday at Cramlington. Please remember that children must wear their school PE kit both for sports day and especially when representing the school.

The high school transition process is well underway for our year 6 children who all took part in the Robot Wars event on Wednesday at the High School. This week all year 6 children will meet with high school staff on Wednesday at Swansfield and take part in a taught session.

I was really proud to hear how well our year 4 children had behaved at Ford Castle, they all took part with enthusiasm, ate well and slept well. They will be telling us all about their residential experience in a special assembly on Thursday afternoon at 2:30pm.

Our new Ceilidh band are performing at Alnwick Gardens on Tuesday morning as part of the Musical Roots event.

We will be sending out the class organisation letter this week in advance of roll up day next Thursday. Please remember that we take a great deal of time and consideration when deciding on which class a child should be taught in.

Last week the attendance was 95.3% which is below the school target and I am concerned that there are a lot of families taking unauthorised holidays during term time which is jeopardising our good attendance.
