Reading in Maple Class

We love to read in Maple Class and take every opportunity we can to get stuck into a good book! Every Thursday we get to go into the school library and choose a book to read for pleasure. As well as this, we have a class read where we choose a book to enjoy as a class. So far, we have read everything from 'Demon Dentist' to 'The Saga of Erik the Viking'.
Our Class Read
We are currently reading 'The Saga of Erik the Viking', written by Terry Jones.
This is the tale of a Viking warrior by the name of Erik. But Erik is no ordinary Viking. With his trusty band of men he sets sail in search of the land where the sun goes at night – but he finds much more! The Sea Dragon, Dogfighters and giants combine to make his voyage a great saga of thrilling adventures.
Enjoying the Library!
Every Thursday, we get to spend time reading in the library, it is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy reading a favourite author or trying something new!
World Book Day
Thursday 3rd March was the 25th World Book Day and Maple class had a fantastic day celebrating everything about reading: we watched a live lesson from the BBC, wrote a review of our favourite books and spent time in the library. There were also so many wonderful and creative costumes, well done everybody!
Reading and Performing 'Freya and the Goblins'
We had fun reading through a playscript of 'Freya and the Goblins'. When it came to acting the play out, there were lots of dramatic performances, helped by the use of stage directions that Maple class had to devise themselves.
