Head Teacher's Blog 16th September 2019

16th September 2019

We are very definitely back in the swing with lots of exciting things to tell you about.

Last week our upper key stage 2 children embarked on a very watery adventure, canoeing on the River Coquet. This has been a wonderful experience for the children who are now writing the most amazing recounts of their day afloat!

Mrs Murdy has been very impressed with the number of children who have completed the Summer Maths Challenge and it is good to see that the children have remembered their number facts and times tables, thank you for your support. Well done to the winners of our prize draw, we hope you enjoy spending your WH Smith voucher.

We are all looking forward to Thursday when we will be welcoming back the marvellous Pearl of Africa Choir. The evening concert will be held at St Paul’s Church and tickets, priced at £4 for adults and £2 for children, are available from the school office.

Also on this week:

  • Claire Mead from Contagious will be talking to the year 5 and 6 children about the Rock Solid Youth Group that she runs.
  • Individual photographs will be taken on Wednesday, we will photograph all the children for SIMS; there is no obligation for you to buy but they do make lovely keepsakes and Christmas presents.
  • The football trials will be held on Wednesday after school

Heads up for next week:

  • Friends of Swansfield Park AGM – Wednesday 25th September at 7pm in the Studio
  • Year 4 residential meeting 3:15pm on Thursday in the School Hall
  • Operation Encompass drop in Tuesday 24th September, 2:45pm in the Meeting Room

Please remember to complete the collection logs if your child is going to be picked up by someone else, this will save delays at handover while we check arrangements.

Finally, some good news on the attendance figures. We have had a good start to the term with 97.9% attendance so far – let’s keep this up! Well done Ash class with 99.8% attendance.
