Weekly Blog, Homework & Spellings ~ 04.04.22

Blog & Homework for week commencing 04.04.22

Hello everyone,
I hope this week's blog finds you all well. Here we are in the last week of the Spring Term already! It has certainly flown. Willow Class have enjoyed another week of learning. They have been interviewing each other this week as part of our Freya and the Goblins newspaper reports. In pairs, they took on the role of journalists and different characters from the Viking saga that is the focus of our reports. Everyone has done a great job of 'getting into the shoes' of Freya, Loki and Odor as well as some of the other characters such as the goblins. They have also created some very powerful descriptions of the Viking raid on Lindisfarne monastery - starting their edited piece with a beautiful illuminated letter. Plenty of School 360 points have gone out this week for all their hard work - a big well done!

CELEBRATIONS
Our Star of the Week certificate goes to Alice Armstrong for growing in confidence and being a happy, positive member of the class. You always try your best Alice - well done!

SUMDOG
Well done to everyone who took part in our Sumdog competition. Willow Class came in 9th position. We have three members of class who were in the top 50 highest scorers list, so an even bigger well done to Oskar, Sophie and Isaac. I will add School 360 points for you and a certificate will be on its way to you.

Swimming & PE
Our swimming session takes place on Tuesday. Children should bring a bag with their costume and towel. They can bring goggles, a swimming hat and a brush if they wish.

PE will continue on a Friday morning so please send your child in a PE kit as usual on this day.

In line with our Covid-19 Risk Assessment, we are asking children to come into school in their outdoor PE kit on the day of their PE lesson. Children should wear black joggers or leggings or as the weather gets warmer, children may wish to wear their purple shorts, their white PE t-shirt, purple school jumper and trainers. Please make sure that your child also has a named water bottle in school.

Homework Overview

Spellings ~ There will be no spellings set for over the Easter holidays, however, on the first Monday back we will do a spelling test of random spellings from different spelling lists that we have been practising.

Times Tables Rockstars ~ Jump on to TTRS to build up fluency on your times tables.

Reading ~ Please take time to read your Guided Reading Books. Record what you have read in your record and please bring these books back into school each day. Unfortunately, taking reading groups out over the last few weeks has proved difficult, however, reading books are being changed on a weekly basis and we will get back into the routine of Guided Reading Groups as soon as possible.

 TOP TIPS FOR HOMEWORK...
~ Little and often...and not last minute! Give yourself enough time to complete homework tasks. Why not get as much done through the week so you can have the weekend off : )
~ Be comfortable...make sure you work in a comfortable space, perhaps with a drink and snack.
~ Have little screen breaks to keep your eyes healthy and happy!

If for any reason, on any week, you have any issues with homework, please just let me know. Children have been sent home with all passwords they will need for now. Please keep them all in a safe place.

I think that's all for now. Have a fantastic Easter holiday when it comes around and we will look forward to seeing you back in school on Monday the 25th of April. If you have any queries or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on:
