Home Learning Friday 19th March
The end of another great week back in Plum Class. The children are well and truly settled back into our usual routines and they continue to amaze me with their cheerfulness and resilience!
In Read Write Inc, we have continued to learn our Set 2 sounds. Seraphina has been in to visit a few times with tales of visiting the North Pole, glow worms, kite flying and much more! The sounds are attached below if you'd like to revisit them this weekend at home.
In our number work we have continued to talk about teen numbers. It has been all about ordering and comparing. There have been team games resembling Play Your Cards Right with shouts of "higher, higher!" and "Lower, lower!" . The Brucie Bonus prizes weren't up to much though! I may be showing my age a little now! We then ordered 4 randomly picked teen number cards from the number that was least to the number that was the greatest. The discussion involved in this kind of activity really shows understanding of place value.
We revisited 2D shapes later in the week and made flowers with centres of circles, triangles, ovals, squares, oblongs, pentagons and even hexagons.
The children were DELIGHTED to have the big climbing frame out in the hall on Thursday morning for PE. They listened carefully to the simple rules that they needed to follow to stay safe and got stuck in by climbing, swinging and stretching.
Other than that, it's been all about spring this week! We've been on bud watch out on the school field spotting the new buds on trees and bushes. We've watched our daffodils and tulips as they have grown a little more each day and we've made beautiful drawings of these flowers for our new spring display in the classroom. If you're out and about at the weekend, see if you can spot signs of spring as you go. Maja taught us all a spring song and a video is attached for you to enjoy!
Hoping everyone has a lovely weekend.
See you bright eyed and bushy tailed on Monday morning!
