Autumn 2 week 2 2023

This week we have been continuing to think about and reflect on our own experiences of bonfire night and seeing all those fantastic fireworks! We showed our tech skills this week by using the programme ‘JIT’ to create our very own bonfire and firework pictures. We selected our own colours, line thickness and had a go at using some other tools too! We made some lovely ICT pictures indeed.

We have been continuing to practise our sounds in Read, Write, Inc- please remember to keep going at home with these.

Our maths this week saw us thinking about simple repeating patterns of ABAB. For example we have been making our own musical rhythm patterns with claps and stamps and moving on to make our own ABAB patterns using lots of natural materials such as pine cones, sticks, leaves and conkers. Have a go at home too!

This week at school we have taken part in ‘anti-bullying week’ where we have been discussing in circle times kind behaviour and we reflected on the importance of always having kind hands, feet and words.

In RE on Wednesday we have begun learning about the Nativity, finding out that this is an important part of Christmas for Christians. We have been looking at what the shepherds did- who they were and what their jobs were and most importantly what their place in the Nativity story was! We thought about why Christians think Jesus is special.

Our Drawing club this week was based on the story of ‘The Ugly Duckling’ where we thought about the setting of the story and considered the key words in our action time: hatched, appear, fluffy, lonely and transform.

The Chranga music session we took part in this week was lots of fun as we bopped to ‘Boogie Wonderland’ and danced/marched to ‘The Grand Old Duke of York’. We have also begun to learn Christmas songs too!

As this week was Children in Need, we thought about the cause and why it is an important one indeed. We took part in lots of different Pudsey based activities throughout the day!

Please continue to hear your child read and record in their reading records. This can be a comment about their progress or anything they have struggled with and may need a bit of extra support with at school. Please also help your child to log in to their school 360 account where they can change their avatar with the points they earn. It has been lovely to see lots of creative outfits on avatars!

Have a lovely weekend,

The Pear class team
