Following a Star - 06.01.23

It is a Tic Toc tradition to celebrate Christmas on Three Kings Day (6th January). This is largely due to the Club being closed over the Christmas break but it also allows the children to explore other traditions.
In the lead up to day we made treasure boxes and stars, both inside and outside. The inside stars were decorations made of salt dough. The outside stars, once we had got used to the fiddly tying, were used to decorate the trees and hold our bird feeders. The bird feeders are pine cones stuffed with lard and sunflower seeds were really mushy and sticky to make and generated a lot of squeaks as we squished them together.
The day before we had a celebration with lots of music and dressing up. Then the highlight of the day - preparing the box for the camels. In the UK it is traditional to leave out carrots on Christmas Eve, to feed the reindeers. On Three Kings Day it is traditional to leave out grass to feed the camels the kings ride. We prepared our box with colour and stars and then filled it with grass, placed it under the tree and waited ...
In the morning we had lots of fun, opening our presents and playing with them.
