Invertebrate Hunt

In the spring term, we are learning about animals and their habitats. Building upon our knowledge of invertebrates from the autumn term, we went on a 'bug hunt' to collect samples from different habitats around the school field. We handled the invertebrates sensitively, taking care not to hurt them. We brought our samples back into the classroom to study them under a magnifying glass. We drew scientific diagrams and labelled the animal's features using scientific vocabulary such as "segment", "thorax" and "antennae". When we had studied our animal we categorised them before returning them to the habit from which we found them.
