The Digestive System

Willow Class had great fun carrying out this hands-on activity which represented the process of the digestive system. We put crackers, banana, orange juice and water into a plastic bag. This represented the food, saliva and gastric acid in our stomachs. Everyone had a chance to squash the bag, breaking the food into smaller pieces. We then used a stocking leg to represent the small intestines - squeezing the nutrients out and sending them to the body. Then into our plastic cup which was the large intestine and then pushed through the anus as waste.
A practical activity to remember!
