Weekly Blog & Homework ~ 27.3.23

Blog & Homework for week beginning 27.3.23

Dear parents and carers,
I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. Here we are into our final week of Spring Term already! We had a couple of treats last week. Firstly, we got to see Ash Class' Assembly which was brilliant. We got to find out about all of the exciting learning that takes place in Ash Class. It was also Mrs Smith's last class assembly and the children of Ash Class gave some lovely final messages to her. This week is definitely the end of an era for Mrs Smith and our school. After 30 years, she will be greatly missed and we wish her all the very best in what we're sure will be a very enjoyable and well deserved retirement.
We also had Richie Newbegin in LKS2 to sing each class The Lambton Worm. We are going to use The Lambton Worm as the focus of our class assembly on Thursday the 27th of April. I will give out parts, words and song sheets this week.
We will enjoy our Spring Term Assembly on Thursday. I know that the class have been practising the songs which I have put up on our Google Classroom.
There will be no subject based homework or spellings set over the Easter holidays. We always encourage reading of any kind and children can feel free to continue their practise of Times Tables Rockstars. Class Assembly song words and speaking parts will be the focus of our homework along with Spelling Frame, TTRS and Guided Reading in the first two weeks of Summer Term.

P.E
Swimming will be on a Tuesday with our PE session for this term on a Thursday. For swimming, children should come in their school uniform. On a Thursday, please make sure that your child comes in a school PE kit and has a named water bottle in school.
** We continue to swim for the first week of Summer Term.We then go to PE on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

Homework Overview

Singing ~ With our Spring Assembly approaching on Thursday the 30th of March, we have been asked to practise some songs. I have added the music to Google Classroom for you to practise as your homework this week.

Spellings ~ Spelling Frame - access Spelling Frame and complete at least 2 activities and a practice test.

Times Tables Rockstars ~ Jump on to TTRS to have fun building fluency with your times table calculations. Children should spend around 15-20 minutes minimum on Times Tables Rockstars each week. Fluency of multiplication facts will help your child in so many other areas of maths.Top winners each week will receive a certificate.

Reading ~ Your child has a Guided Reading Book. Please ensure you read with your child as well as encouraging independent reading and leave a comment in the reading record to let us know how they are progressing. Your child can write comments too.
Please ensure your reading book and record is in your bag every day.

 TOP TIPS FOR HOMEWORK...
~ Little and often...and not last minute! Give yourself enough time to complete homework tasks. Why not get as much done through the week so you can have the weekend off : )
~ Be comfortable...make sure you work in a comfortable space, perhaps with a drink and snack.
~ Have little screen breaks to keep your eyes healthy and happy!

If for any reason, on any week, you have any issues with homework, please just let me know.
