Weekly Blog & Homework ~ 6.3.23

Blog & Homework for week beginning 6.3.23

Dear parents and carers,
I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. Firstly, a big 'thank you' to you all for attending Parents' Meetings and for your ongoing support. It was great to catch up with you all again and to be able to report on your child's progress.
The children all enjoyed World Book Day on Friday. We shared some stories with Ash Class which was a lovely opportunity for the younger children to have the books they enjoy read to them by the children of Willow Class. You can see some of the photos on our class page. The children looked fantastic in their costumes.
Tuesday afternoon brings our first swimming session. Children should come to school in their uniforms and bring their swimming kits in a bag. The children will be assessed by the instructor on this first session. We're sure the children will enjoy the experience of swimming as a class.

P.E
Swimming will be on a Tuesday with our PE session for this term on a Thursday. For swimming, children should come in their school uniform. On a Thursday, please make sure that your child comes in a school PE kit and has a named water bottle in school.

Homework Overview

Subject Homework ~ Please complete your Big Maths Sheet for next Monday. This is a good chance to show your adults what you do in school.

Spellings ~ Spelling Frame - access Spelling Frame and complete at least 2 activities and a practice test.

Times Tables Rockstars ~ Jump on to TTRS to have fun building fluency with your times table calculations. Children should spend around 15-20 minutes minimum on Times Tables Rockstars each week. Fluency of multiplication facts will help your child in so many other areas of maths.Top winners each week will receive a certificate.

Reading ~ Your child has a Guided Reading Book. Please ensure you read with your child as well as encouraging independent reading and leave a comment in the reading record to let us know how they are progressing. Your child can write comments too.
Please ensure your reading book and record is in your bag every day.

 TOP TIPS FOR HOMEWORK...
~ Little and often...and not last minute! Give yourself enough time to complete homework tasks. Why not get as much done through the week so you can have the weekend off : )
~ Be comfortable...make sure you work in a comfortable space, perhaps with a drink and snack.
~ Have little screen breaks to keep your eyes healthy and happy!
