Weekly Blog & Homework ~ 7.11.22

Blog & Homework for week beginning 7.11.22

Dear parents and carers,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and managed to enjoy some fireworks. If you made it to the fireworks at Alnwick Rugby Club, I'm sure you will agree that it was a fantastic display!
This week brings our LKS2 trips to Alnwick library on Thursday for Willow Class. I'm sure the children will enjoy their visit. We are very lucky to have such an inviting space to spend time looking at books and have the facility to borrow books. If you haven't been along to Alnwick library, it is well worth the visit.
Lastly, a big thank you to everyone for attending meetings to discuss your child's progress. I do apologise for running a late with some but you were all very understanding and that is much appreciated.

CELEBRATIONS

Our Star of the Week certificate goes to Ivy Archer for a descriptive piece of writing about the Viking raid on Lindisfarne monastery in 793. Well done!

P.E

PE for this term will take place on a Tuesday and Friday. Children should come to school wearing purple shorts or plain black joggers or leggings, their white PE t-shirt, purple school jumper or hoodie and trainers. Please make sure that your child also has a named water bottle in school.

Wellies ~
If you haven't already, please can you send in a pair of named wellies for your child as we will be outside in all weathers. Thank you.

Homework Overview

Google Classroom ~ See this week's instructions on Goggle Classroom for your two week Roman project.

Spellings ~ Spelling Frame - access Spelling Frame and complete at least 2 activities and a practice test.

Times Tables Rockstars ~ Jump on to TTRS to have fun building fluency with your times table calculations. This week it is another tournament for boys versus girls. Let's see if both teams can get over 100 points this time - you can do it!

Reading ~ Your child has a Guided Reading Book. Please ensure you read with your child as well as encouraging independent reading and leave a comment in the reading record to let us know how they are progressing. Your child can write comments too.

 TOP TIPS FOR HOMEWORK...
~ Little and often...and not last minute! Give yourself enough time to complete homework tasks. Why not get as much done through the week so you can have the weekend off : )
~ Be comfortable...make sure you work in a comfortable space, perhaps with a drink and snack.
~ Have little screen breaks to keep your eyes healthy and happy!

If for any reason, on any week, you have any issues with homework, please just let me know.
