Weekly Blog & Homework ~ 9.5.23

Blog & Homework for week beginning 9.5.23

Dear parents and carers,
I hope you have all had a lovely coronation weekend. The King's ceremony on Saturday was very grand and quite emotional to watch. We enjoyed our own coronation celebrations in school on Friday - particularly the royal conga around the school field! Willow Class created some beautiful coronation tiles. Some of these will be chosen to go on display in the hub.
Willow Class have also taken part in the Bailiffgate art competition. The children had to design a book cover for the title Our Big Day Out. The children sketched ideas in their sketch books before coming up with a final design. We will get the entries down to Bailiffgate and keep our fingers crossed that we have a competition winner! The winner will have their work on display in the museum over the summer.
We have a Year 3 school trip to the Glendale Agricultural Show after half term. A letter with all the details will be coming out to you this week. There is lots to look forward to as we go through the summer term.

P.E
Willow Class will have PE lessons on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Please make sure that your child comes in a school PE kit and has a named water bottle in school.

Homework Overview
Coronation project ~ See Google Classroom for homework details.

Spellings ~ Spelling Frame - access Spelling Frame and complete at least 2 activities and a practice test.

Times Tables Rockstars ~ Jump on to TTRS to have fun building fluency with your times table calculations. Children should spend around 15-20 minutes minimum on Times Tables Rockstars each week. Fluency of multiplication facts will help your child in so many other areas of maths.
This week we have another battle - Willow Class against teachers! Who will win?

Reading ~ Your child has a Guided Reading Book. Please ensure you read with your child as well as encouraging independent reading and leave a comment in the reading record to let us know how they are progressing. Your child can write comments too.
Please ensure your reading book and record is in your bag every day.

 TOP TIPS FOR HOMEWORK...
~ Little and often...and not last minute! Give yourself enough time to complete homework tasks. Why not get as much done through the week so you can have the weekend off : )
~ Be comfortable...make sure you work in a comfortable space, perhaps with a drink and snack.
~ Have little screen breaks to keep your eyes healthy and happy!

If for any reason, on any week, you have any issues with homework, please just let me know.
