Head Teacher's Blog 01.11.21

1st November 2021

Welcome back to a half term which is usually packed full of exciting events, we’ll do our best to make it as festive as possible. The newsletter is on its way this week and will keep you up to date on school life. The new Winter Menu which will be introduced this week is now on the website.

Last half term ended with a fabulous pumpkin competition organised by the Friends, the winners were Connor-Roy W (Apple), Karina K (Pear), Sidney S (Plum), Sophia P (Ash), Ollie R (Beech), Georgia Mc (Oak), Shona G (Willow), Noah E-H (Chestnut), Isla L (Maple), Ollie F (Larch) and Ellie L (Rowan). We’ll be in touch with a total from this event as soon as we have it!

The Friends of Swansfield Park do a fabulous job in supporting the school, and they extend an open invitation to everyone to join them for tea/coffee, juice and biscuits at the Town Hall on Friday 5th November straight after school. This will be an ideal opportunity to meet the current committee and find out a bit more about their plans and how you might be able to help. Please support this event if you can - of course children are welcome too and there will be plenty for them to do with a movie and some games.

Please look out for the parent consultation information which will be sent soon, once again we are having to do telephone consultations due to the OCVID restrictions.

Our KS2 children are once again preparing for a Sumdog battle, this time competing against hundreds of other schools as part of Maths Week England. The competition will run from Friday 5th November to Thursday 11th November. Chestnut and Rowan were in the spotlight last half term for their fabulous achievements, who will it be this time? We will keep you all updated.

Parents of children in Pear and Apple will have received details of a staggered start and finish time starting tomorrow morning. We’d be very grateful for everyone’s support with this.

The week before half term we were particularly impressed with Billy G, Lottie B, Fleur H, Charlotte G, Jessica M, Phoebe-Plum B, Freya S Oliver J, Archie P, Faith B, Jack R and Joseph L - our stars of the week, well done everyone, an electronic certificate will be with you soon.

This week’s music comes from Handel and it’s Music for The Royal Fireworks. We’ll be listening to this in school this week. Can you find out when this music was written?

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone back in school this week.

Bye for now.
