Head Teacher's Blog 26.02.24

25th February 2024

Following the information sent out at the end of the week about our full opening of school tomorrow morning, I’ll keep the blog short and sweet!

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone in the morning and in particular, our Cherries and some of our Apples who we’ve not seen for a few weeks! All of the emergency repair work is now complete and the new boiler installations are just about finished too. My thanks go to our cleaning and caretaking staff - Pauline Barrass, Loraine Laws and Dermot Dickson who have worked very hard over the last few weeks to ensure that contractors could have weekend and out of hours access and to get school, inside and out, ready for Monday morning. They have done a grand job!

Here’s the key information for the week:

  • Everyone should return to normal drop off and pick up locations and times. Apples, please note that you will continue to use the park gate and the little yard as your point of access.

  • School meals return to normal. Tina, Nichola and Keely are looking forward to serving lunch tomorrow and having the dining hall full of the usual chatter and cheeriness! Don’t forget to book choices on the app.

  • Tic Toc is open as normal from tomorrow morning.

  • Rock Steady music lessons begin tomorrow and continue on Friday.

  • All other music lessons are on as normal this week.

  • Parent consultations for Apple, Plum, Oak, Beech, Willow, Rowan and Larch take place in the coming week.

  • Please remember that there will be no teacher led clubs for the next two weeks due to consultations.

  • For PE days, please refer to PE letters sent before the holiday and remember that Maple and Willow classes will be swimming on Tuesday.

  • Please ensure that children have wellies or outdoor shoes in school, the field continues to be very muddy!

We had some stars of the week who impressed their teachers before the holidays. A big well done goes to: Tristan White, Grace Schmidberger, Jessica de la Mothe, Georgia Lott, Felicity Davies, Lilly Newson and Cameron Bowie. We are very proud of you all!

Well, let’s hope for a smooth ride to the Easter holidays, we’ve got 5 busy weeks ahead of us and we’re looking forward to lots of great learning and fun!

Here’s a cheery, jazzy tune to start the half term. I’ll be looking forward to asking the children which instruments they can hear when we listen to this during our assemblies this week.

See you in the week,
