Head Teacher's Blog 22.04.24

21st April 2024

Lots to tell you about in this week’s blog, the summer term is up and running and we’re ready to get stuck in!

Years 3 and 4 have begun the term with a competitive edge and are currently engaged in a Times Table Rockstars battle with their teachers. The children are determined to secure a win - we'll bring you the all important results next week!  It’s not just maths that KS2 are focusing on though, Maple class visited the town library last week and Willow, Sycamore and Larch will be going down to choose new books for their classrooms in the coming week. Our Reception and KS1 friends also have plans to visit soon to take advantage of Thursday morning story sessions. We love a trip out and with such a lovely library on our doorstep, no wonder we use it regularly to inspire our children to be avid readers!

We’d like to say a big thank you to Tina and Nicola in the kitchen who have given us delicious lunches this week from our new summer menu. Special thanks must be given for such a tasty roast dinner on Wednesday that was enjoyed by all of our Maple families. Please help us by ensuring that your child’s meal choices have been completed online, this includes those having a packed lunch from home.

Let’s look at what else is on in the coming week…

  • Clubs begin this week on Mondays and Thursdays after school. You should have received messages to confirm places.
  • Everyone in Ash class is looking forward to their class assembly on Thursday afternoon. They are hard at work practising - I’ve heard some fabulous singing this week and can’t wait to see what else they have to share! Family and friends are warmly welcomed to join us at 14.30
  • Those families with Y6 children heading off on residential in a few weeks time are invited to join us for a short meeting at 17.00 on Wednesday
  • It’s Y3 Fun with Numbers on Thursday morning. Nick will have the kettle on from 08.45 and the number crunching will start at 09.15 with Mr Warburton and Mrs Smith

It’s been a hard working first week back and we have a new collection of stars of the week to celebrate with you. A huge well done goes to: Theo White, Quinn Miller, Mario Ventre, Darcy Hindhaugh, Beatrix Patten, Isla Pagett, Sam Frater, Ella-Rose Clements, Jacob Wilson, Jude Graham and Charlotte Brabban. We are very proud of you all, keep up the great work!

Attendance-wise, we’ve made a great start to the new term with our whole school attendance standing at 96.1% and Chestnut being our best attenders with a fabulous 99.7%.

With the TTRS battle raging, let’s have a classic rock tune to listen to as we x-table our way through the week.

Have a good one, see you in the week,

Mrs G
