Head Teachers' Blog 04.04.22

3rd April 2022

As we reflect upon this term and the impact of Covid we are pleased to have reached the Easter holidays. Last week has been as difficult as any other, not only did we have a lot of staff absence resulting in a one day closure of Cherry class but we had the gas issues to contend with as well. Many thanks for your cooperation.

We are being positive and planning for the reintroduction of clubs in the summer term - information will be circulated this week.

After the huge success of the Ukrainian cake sale, the children are planning a sponsored silence, please watch out for further information.

Our KS2 children achieved very well in last week’s Northumberland Sumdog Contest. Rowan Class were crowned ‘Sumdog Champions of Northumberland’, followed closely by Chestnut Class in 2nd place and Sycamore Class in 3rd. With over 250 children taking part in the competition, a special mention to Luke B, Sophia T and Thomas L for being the top three players in the competition, a fabulous achievement. Well done to all of our Key Stage 2 children!

Don’t forget to get your entries in for the DT competition- design something from a plastic bottle. Designs and products should be brought in to school by Wednesday for judging at the end of the week. Prizes are waiting!

We seem to have had all weathers over the last few weeks but here is a piece of music that conjures up images of beautiful sun rises. This is Morning Mood from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite. Morning Mood is the first of 4 movements which tell a story. Can you find out about this story and come to assembly ready to tell all?

As always, we had some stand out stars from the last week, well done to you all - certificates will be winging their way to: Penny T, Lucy C, Charlotte G, Rowan M, Emily C, Noah E-H, Thomas W, Amy T and Evie Saunders

Enjoy the Easter holiday and we’ll see everyone back at school on Monday 25th April

Bye for now,
