Head Teacher's Blog 05.06.23

4th June 2023

Welcome back to the last half term of our school year. I do hope that everyone has had a great holiday. I look forward to hearing all of the children’s news over the next few days.

This half term is always a busy one so please do make a note of all the important dates that will be published in the newsletter which will be out in the week.

In the meantime, here are the important things to note for the week ahead.

  • There will be a meeting about the Year 4 Ford Residential on Tues 6th June at 15.15 in the school hall. Children are welcome to attend with their parents/carers

  • Year 3 is heading to the countryside day on Thurs 8th June. At the moment, the forecast is good but please ensure that children are prepared for ‘whatever the weather’!

  • Some of our UKS2 children are heading to the cricket competition at Alnwick Cricket Club on Thurs 8th June. We look forward to bringing you the results!

  • Over the next two weeks, Year 4 will be taking their Multiplication Tables Check.

  • All school staff based clubs will begin again in the week beginning 12th June

An important date for your diary is Monday 12th June when our Friends of Swansfield will be holding their AGM. This is going to be a virtual gathering at 8.00pm which they hope will enable as many parents/carers as possible to attend. Further information from our Friends will come out in our newsletter. We will also send out a Google form to register attendance for the meeting link.

Our UKS2 children had a great time at the St Michael’s football tournament just before the holiday and finished in 3rd position. I am delighted to report that they demonstrated great sporting attitudes and teamwork skills. Well done to all who played!

The summer term is always a time for lots of sporting activity and with that in mind, please note that in addition to black joggers or leggings, children can choose to wear either purple or black shorts on PE days. We kindly ask that these are plain.

Attendance in the week before the holiday was 94.9% and our best attendees were Beech with 98.6%.

We had some superstars in the week before the holidays who will be receiving certificates for their great efforts: Joshua Taylor, Jaxon McPartland, Bradley Saxton, Jack Gray, Rebecca Tutleman, Amelia Lamb, Grace Chatterton, Katie Jones, Isaac Buddles, Isla Lockett and Amelia Black.

Our music this week is a song we all know well but I bet you’ve never heard it done like this! You can let me know what you think when you see me during the week.

See you all bright and early!
