6th February 2022
Fingers crossed the COVID situation appears to be easing and hopefully this week we’ll be able to remove all the outbreak plans which will have a really positive impact on staffing. Thank you for supporting us throughout this very difficult time.
We are all looking forward to getting back to a “new normal”. Some things, such as our staggered lunchtime arrangements which have led to a calmer dining experience, we are considering keeping as we go forward.
We were delighted to hear from the Friends of Swansfield Park who are eager to get on with some fun fundraising activities. The first of which is£1 to wear your PJs to school on Friday 18th February. Other events in the planning include a sponsored walk with an Easter Egg Hunt and a super duper raffle.
As mentioned last week, Safer Internet Day will be celebrated on Tuesday 8th February this year. The theme is ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online.’ In other words, it’s all about how children are helping to shape the online games and interactive entertainment spaces they are a part of, as well as how they can keep safe while using them.
Other important things to note this week include:
-
Willow Class have their first swimming lesson on Tuesday.
-
Chestnut Class continue to swim
-
Maple Class has NUF lessons.
In sad news from India this weekend, Lata Mangeshkar, a Bollywood legend has died at the age of 92. Lata was such a loved figure across India that two days of mourning have been announced and the national flag will be flown at half mast across the country. Whilst Lata was not always the ‘star’ of Bollywood films, her voice was used as countless leading ladies lip synced along with her beautiful melodies. This song, Lag Jaa Gale is one that she is most famous for. We wonder if you can spot any traditional Indian instruments playing along with lata?
