Head Teacher's blog 09.01.23

8th January 2023

Happy New Year everyone, let's hope for a good one ahead! We hope you were able to make the most of the Christmas holiday in spite of all the rain and wind!

As we start the spring term we are immediately on timetable. Rowan and Sycamore classes will be swimming on Tuesday afternoon and NUF Coaching will begin again this week with football, multi-skills and gymnastic sessions scheduled on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday so please check information from class teachers for your child’s lessons. On coaching days children should come to school in their PE kit:

  • white t-shirt (plain or school logo)

  • plain, unbranded black leggings or tracksuit bottoms

  • purple shorts

  • school jumper, cardigan or purple logo hoodie

  • plain black or white socks

Music lessons begin again on Thursday with Miss Hewison and all other music lessons will commence on the week of the 16th January. Please have instruments in school for these days.

The newsletter is being written and will be with you by the end of the week – please contact the office if you don’t receive a copy by the usual means.

The clubs brochure was sent out last term and children will be notified this week for clubs to begin next week.

Here is a great tune to get our new year started, the Pizzicato Polka by J Strauss. Do you know what pizzicato means? When you find or work this out, can you use this information to explain why the rest of the orchestra aren’t playing (a part from the very important triangle, of course!)? Enjoy!

The Spring term is always the most productive so we are looking forward to getting back into school and settling down to our learning.

Bye for now
