Head Teachers' Blog 25.04.22

24th April 2022

Welcome back, we hope that everyone has had a wonderful Easter break. It certainly has been lovely to see the sun. Let’s hope that the fine weather continues so that we can make the most of our fabulous outdoor space during the summer term.

The newsletter will be with you early in the week and we encourage you to take some time to read it so you can catch up on all of the super things that have been going on at Swansfield over the last term as well as looking forward to exciting things we have planned for the summer term.

We’re hoping that the summer term will be a healthy one and that community transmissions of Covid will reduce in number. In line with national guidelines, please can we ask for your continued support in keeping your child at home if they have a high temperature and/or feel unwell. If you still have access to testing, you can continue to let us know if your child has a positive outcome. Children can return to school after day three if they feel well enough to do so.  The advice to parents is attached for your information.

Remember that clubs begin this week so if you signed up we’ll look forward to seeing you at your chosen club at 3.00pm. Here’s the run down…

Monday - choir, coding, bitsa, terrific scientific, eco-club, netball

Tuesday - football

Thursday - let’s get cooking, bookworms, lingo club, cricket

Friday - multi-skills

Clubs run by school based staff finish at 3.45pm but cricket, multi-skills and football which are run by our coaches finish at 4.00pm.

Don’t forget to come to school in your PE kit on your allocated days for PE lessons. Children attending an after school sports club can bring their kit in a bag if this does not coincide with one of their class PE days.

Children in Sycamore and Larch will be swimming again on Tuesday so please remember to bring swimming kits into school.

We have a new summer menu that will be starting from this week. This was emailed out during the Easter holiday and you can also find it on our website. As always, we’ll be encouraging the children to try new things. Clean plate stickers are very popular at the moment! Every now and then we continue to experience a little bit of difficulty in sourcing all of the ingredients we need from suppliers so occasionally it may be necessary to make some slight changes to the daily menu.

Don’t forget that we’ll be holding our sponsored silence in aid of Ukraine on Thursday this week so you’ve still got some time to get your form filled in if you’d like to. There is no requirement to do so and everyone will join in with the event as it will provide an opportunity for quiet reflection about this on-going and sad situation.

A very big well done to the winners of our DT competition - Millie Jeffries, Daisy Oliver and Elliot Chapman. Prizes will be winging their way to you. Miss Freeman was very impressed with all the plastic bottle creations and the innovation that was displayed!

In further good news, here are the names of our stars from the last week before the holiday: Jaxon McPartland, Myla Packard, Lottie Brown, Chayce Horne-Smith, Katy Hutchins, Sam Frater, Felicity Davies, Alex Jepson, Charlotte Brabben, William Beresford, Tommy Phelan and Archie Mather. Very well done to you all!

Here’s a great tune to get the term started ‘Sunshine’ by Gabrielle. We’ll enjoy listening to and talking about this song as we come and go in assembly this week. Please think about the structure of the song - can you identify the verses and the chorus? Is there a bridge section?

Don’t forget that it’s Bank Holiday Monday next week so we’ll see everyone back in school on Tuesday 3rd May.

Bye for now,
