Head Teachers' Blog 27.02.23

26th February 2023

Welcome back to school and as Spring is just around the corner we are looking forward to better and brighter times ahead. It is a short half term - only five weeks until Easter so we’ll have a lot to pack in. Starting with after school clubs, we hope that everyone is keen on the great new additions. If  you haven’t already signed up, do this quickly and we’ll be messaging out early in the week to let you know about places. Please note that choir is on this week but all other teacher led clubs begin in the week commencing Monday 6th March

Things to remember this week are:

  • The NEU strike is on Tuesday - please refer to the letter sent out before half term. School is open for Cherry, Apple, Sycamore, Rowan and Larch classes. We have also organised places for children with additional needs, those entitled to free school meals and those of critical workers - these parents have been notified that a school place is available for their children on Tuesday.

  • All children from Reception through to year 4 will have PE on Tuesday with our NUF coach.

  • Parent consultations start this week in The Hub:

Wednesday - Pear, Plum, Maple, Rowan, Larch

Thursday - Apple, Ash, Willow, Sycamore

Friday - Apple

  • It’s World Book Day and we’ll be celebrating on Friday with “finding an ally” and reading with a friend from a different class. Of course children can come dressed up as their favourite book character. With this in mind, we hope to have a pre-loved costume  stall in the foyer on Monday after school. Please bring your donations in on Monday morning and we’ll message out to let you know if we’ve got enough to run a stall.

World Book Day  books are now in the shops and so we’ll get the tokens out as early in the week as we can to ensure that children get their 1st choices.

With World Book Day on the horizon, we’ve chosen some music with a popular literary theme - music from Harry Potter. This was composed by John Williams, an American composer who is famous for his film music. There are 5 smileys available for anyone who let’s us know another film that he wrote the music for!

As always, we had some stand out stars from the week before half term, they were: Jaxon Kennedy, Harlee Coxford, Harry Baker, Lee Phillipson, Elbie Raine, Jude Graham, Faith Brown and Alex Drinnan - well done to you all .

Finally, we must send our very best wishes to Mrs Chambers as she begins her maternity leave on Friday. We can’t wait to hear of a safe arrival in April and to see all those lovely photos. Miss Langman will take over teaching in Sycamore class.

Bye for now,

Mrs S and Mrs G
