Head Teacher's Blog 31.01.22

31st January 2022

With the end of January upon us, we are hoping that February brings a steady improvement in the Covid situation. We’d like to thank everyone for their ongoing support with the extra measures we’ve had to put in place for some classes over the last few weeks. The children have taken these into their stride and as always we are proud of their resilience. Thanks  must also go to staff who have been flexible and supported the children with these measures. We’ll be reviewing the class measures with public health early in the week and we’ll communicate with parents/carers of the affected classes. Please note that Maple will not swim this week.

Safer Internet Day will be celebrated on the 8th February this year. The theme is ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online.’ We’re sure you’ll agree that ensuring safety in the online world is so important for our children and we know that it can be daunting and worrying for parents and carers as children begin to have an online footprint.  The Safer Internet Day site has lots of information and support for children and their parents/carers. You can access it by the link below.

In school, we’ll be exploring issues relating to safe internet use in the week beginning 8th February and we’ll share some of the work we’ve done with you. In the meantime, if you ever have any questions or queries about anything that relates to internet safety, please get in touch with your child’s class teacher. We’re so fortunate at Swansfield to have Mr Johnson as our e-safety lead. Mr Johnson takes such care in ensuring that he’s always up to date with the latest advice and information. Class teachers will work with Mr Johnson to answer any queries or requests for support and advice that you might have.

As always, we had some stand out stars from the last week, well done to you all - certificates will be winging their way to: Elizabeth M, Louis O’C, Melody C, Sidney S, Verity R, Lexi A, Grace C, Isaac K, Jessie H, Archie L, Jake B, Ava M, Tom A.

As we wave goodbye to January, here’s a cheery tune for us all to have a little bop to as we welcome the glimmer of spring that February begins to bring!  Quick question for budding musicians, are there 3 or 4 beats in each bar? Have a go and see if you can clap, stamp dance along with the steady beat.

Bye for now,
