World Book Day 3rd March

17th February 2023

World Book Day will be swiftly upon us when we return after the half term holiday and we know that it’s a day that our children enjoy celebrating! Although nationally World Book Day is on Thursday 2nd March, we have consultations on this day so we’ll leave out celebrations until the Friday.

As always, children will receive a World Book Day token that they can exchange for one of the specially selected texts which you can get from many local retailers including WHSmiths, Morrisons and Sainsburys.

You can see the range of books available by clicking on this link:

In addition to this, children are invited to dress up, if they would like to. Remember, this does not have to be a shop bought costume - many book characters wear ordinary clothes that your child will have in their wardrobe!  However, if anyone does have a spare costume at home that they will not be using and would be prepared to donate it to school, we will help it find a new home. We would be grateful for any donations of pre-loved costumes on the morning of Monday 27th Feb and we’ll hope to open a costume stall at afternoon pick up on the 27th. We’ll send further details out when we see how many costumes we have taken in.

Children will take part in a range of activities throughout the day, including shared story sessions where older children will read with younger friends and creative activities around choosing which book character you’d pick as your best friend.

We look forward to sharing some of our celebrations with you on the school website.
