Food and Nutrition in EYFS

In the Early Years Foundation Stage we love to grow fruit and vegetables! The children take great pride in taking care of the seeds and are amazed as they watch them grow. The children are very excited when it's time to harvest them! Afterwards, we enjoy chopping and tasting them or we take them to the school kitchen so that they can be used the following week in our school dinners.
Lettuce sandwiches
In the Early Years Foundation Stage the children LOVE to grow their own produce to later enjoy and share with others. The children enjoy growing a variety of fruit and vegetables such as; potatoes, lettuce, beetroot, radishes, courgettes, beans, onions, herbs and so much more.

As you can see below, the children are really enjoying making their own lettuce sandwiches with focus on the skill of spreading. Lots of us found this tricky at first, but with a bit of practise in our "lettuce cafe" the children soon got the hang of this! Amazing work! They were delicious!
Baking bread...
We love baking in EYFS and we particularly enjoy baking bread. We work as a team to help measure, mix and knead the dough. Then the best part... tasting!!
