Tooth Decay Investigation - Chestnut 2022

In the autumn term in Chestnut our scientific investigations have focused on animals (including humans) the human digestive systems, and animal and human skeletons and their teeth. We learned that sugar causes tooth decay and we set up an experiment to test that out in practise, which the wonderful children from Chestnut explain in this video.

We have also worked scientifically to group animals based on what they eat (the children came up with their own categories) and decided whether an animal is a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore based on the size, number and type of teeth its skull has.

Enjoy the time-lapse video of our experiment!
