What does DT look like in the Early Years?

Using junk materials to bring our ideas and creations to life is a big part of our DT work in EYFS! The children may take inspirations from topic work or use their own fascinations to create their masterpieces. The children have time to explore materials freely, decide how to use them and can work independently or as part of a team to be bust designers!

In Nursery when we make models we carefully plan and then select our materials

We think about the different ways to join the materials together and often test them to see which will work best

We look at our models and make changes, improvements and add finishing touches as we develop our models

We love working alongside friends to share our ideas!

We are so proud with our finished products!
