Autumn - 21.10.22

As Summer moves into Autumn we have been busy harvesting our produce. The highlight of the garden this Summer has definitely been the sunflowers which were enormous. We have harvested the seed heads and hung them in the trees for the birds to eat. We also collected our small hoard of pumpkins and squashes.
Autumn has brought a surfeit of leaves and conkers. We have enjoyed shelling and sorting those and have discovered a new use for the water cascade.
As the nights draw in we have spent a lot of our time creating models with cardboard boxes and the blocks. We used the blocks to create tall towers (yes, we did get to the ceiling) and elaborate, giant marble runs. Great excitement when the tennis ball actually landed in the dish at the end!
As well as painting and drawing, we have spent a lot of time in our café area using the loose parts to create a wide variety of potions and dishes. We read "Pumpkin Soup" which has provided the inspiration for a lot of Autumn dishes using the pumpkins and the conkers (and anything else we could find). We especially enjoyed using the big mixing bowls to mix it all together.
