Blog week ending 17.6.22

What a busy!  We've all been having some great fun this week.  It was lovely to hear all about the adventures Star, Onni, Coco and Pebbles (our class bears) went on last weekend and we're really looking forward to hearing what they do this week.

Our maths learning this week has continued on from doubling.  We've been starting to count in 2s and looking at sharing into equal groups - is it fair or not?  We had a lot fun creating a picnic for our toys and sharing the "food" between them.

For our work on the seaside this week, we have learnt the song "oh I do like to be beside the seaside" and talked bout some of the new vocabulary (such as stroll, bandstand, prom).  We have also talked about seaside places near us and what we like to do at the beach.  We've really enjoyed exploring the seaside objects with our magnifying glasses too!

In music, we have listened to The William Tell Overture and had some different responses as to how it made us feel!  Some of really enjoyed it and it made us feel very excited as the tempo was so fast, but others didn't like the sound of all the instruments together.  We also heard the sounds of some different instruments and listened carefully to pick out the sounds in the piece of music.

We've started a new topic in PSHE: Changing Me.  This week, we have been looking at our body and its different parts.  We enjoyed labelling the parts we know (such as head, shoulders, elbows, toes, nails) and then thought about some of the parts inside our body and their jobs to help us live, like our hearts, lungs, brains, bones.  At home, it would be great if you could help your child research some of the parts of the body they are unsure of and their function.  You could also talk about the different senses: can you find things that taste, smell, look, feel, hear nice/horrible?  It would be great to see some photos on your journals!

Have a great weekend everybody!
See you next week,
The Pear Class team
