Autumn 2 week 5 2023

We enjoyed playing in what was left of the snowy weather at the start of the week and have been exploring the world around us, observing, feeling and listening to nature. Exploring is what we do best! Please ensure your child has a hat, mittens and a scarf as well as spare clothes in a bag on their peg.

We have been learning lots about ‘one more than’ and ‘one less than’ and enjoyed learning in all our areas of provision to consolidate our maths learning and skills. We have also been really good at remembering to form our letters correctly, making sure that they are written the correct way round! Have a go at home too!

Our Read, Write Inc saw us all practise our letters and sounds-we are getting very good at knowing speed sounds 1 and some of us have been practising putting these into words that we write ourselves!

Our trip to the post office was unable to take place this week, however we thought about the route we would need to take, what features we would pass and what they would look like. We knew that we would start off at school, then walk along the path past the park and then we would have to be very careful whilst we crossed the road. We would then walk down to the post office to post our letters! We made fabulous models with loose part construction and thought about the shape and size of the park, school and post office.

We have also this week been starting to make some brilliant Christmas surprises- watch this space! Our RE learning this week was focussed around Christmas carols. We found out where they usually take place and had a go at learning ‘Away in a Manger’- we have some beautiful singing voices indeed in Pear class!

Please ensure you listen to your child read and record in their reading record and bring their books in each week. We still have a number of outstanding reading books which we would like to be returned before the Christmas holidays please- many thanks for your support with this.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Pear class team
