Home Learning Week Beginning 18th January

Hi there Cherries,

Welcome back to a new week. I hope you are all well.

Here are some suggestions to keep you busy this week...

Monday:
During winter, lots of animals have to manage in the cold weather.  I've attached a story called 10 Little Lights for you to share together. Let's focus upon language skill today. Can your little one name all of the animals?  If so, can you take their language on further by encouraging them to look at the animals in the story and speak a short phrase or sentence to describe the animal or to explain what it's doing.

Tuesday:

The birds need our help in winter because it's hard for them to find food.  Can you work with your little one to make some bird feed? A really easy way to do this is to string some cheerios onto a pipe cleaner and hang this on a tree or bush in your garden. Threading the cheerios is fabulous for fine motor skill. Or you can mix some seeds, grated cheese and nuts together with some lard or veggie white fat and then press this mixture into an empty yogurt pot.  We'd love to see some pictures of your bird feeders.

Wednesday:

I've attached a PDF of some birds that you might be able to spot out and about.  Can you show the pictures to your little one and then on a walk or in your garden, see if you can spot these birds.

Thursday:

Let's get 'arty' today.  Choose one of the birds on the picture I attached and have a go at letting your little one make their own picture.  Maybe you could paint or collage.  You could use crayons or even just a pencil.  As always, ensure that an effective tripod grip on any pens and pencils is used. We'd love to see the pictures you make.

Friday:

Two Little dickie birds sitting on a wall.
One named Peter, one named Paul,
Fly away Peter,
Fly away Paul.
Come back Peter,
Come back Paul.

Do you remember this rhyme from your childhood.  It's such a fun one to do with finger actions.
Can you encourage your little one to learn it off by heart?

Have a great week everyone.  Don't forget to drop us a message and let us know how you get on.

Stay safe,
From,
