Meet the Pear Class team

A huge big hello to all of our lovely new Pears! We are so looking forward to meeting you all but before we do, we thought it would be a good idea if we tell you a few things about us! We have included a picture so that you know what we look like although we have likely met many of you before -or certainly heard your wonderful singing voices in the corridoor!
If you were an animal - What would you be?

Mrs Horne-Smith:

If I were an animal( I can hardly write that without bursting into a song I will soon share with you), I would most definitely be a monkey - not only because they are my favourite animal, but also because I think they seem to be the animal that has the most fun! I love working as part of a team and I enjoy having fun and playing (especially with anything messy)! Monkeys are often seen climbing, hanging, jumping and generally being cheeky - I also love to be active and spend most of my time in the classroom up on my feet and singing, as you will soon find out!

Mrs Vicky:

If I were an animal I would be a red squirrel! I love how small and cute they are and how quickly they can climb trees to get away from things!

What makes you feel happy?

Mrs Horne-Smith:

My three children  - most of the time! I also love stories. When I was a little girl, I loved to tell stories, listen to them, read them, watch them and act them out. That hasn't changed even now I am an adult. There are no limits when it comes to stories... we can be transported anywhere simply with the magic of our own and other people's imaginations!

Mrs Vicky:

Spending time with my family! I have two teenage children, a girl and a boy, who I am very proud of. I also have a fiancé and I'm in a happy place when planning our wedding.

What is your favourite food?

Mrs Horne-Smith:

I am a huge Pringles crisps fan - it has to be salt and vinegar though. You know you are my friend if I am willing to share my pringles with you! I also love to eat healthy food though, my favourite evening snack is crudites - see if whoever looks after you can help you to look this up to see what I mean!

Mrs Vicky:

I eat healthily most of the time, eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, however I do LOVE pizza - my favourite toppings are olives, spinach and mushrooms!
If you were given a magic cloak, what magic power would you like to have?

Mrs Horne-Smith:

If I were given a magic cloak to put on, I would like the power of shape shifting. I could become whatever or whomever I wanted to be - almost like being inside of a story! It would be a good tool for a reception teacher, as I often go from being a goblin in the morning - to a doctor at lunchtime -  to a cafe shop owner in the afternoon, depending where our play and stories take us!

Mrs Vicky:

If I had a magic power it would be invisibility! If I was invisible I could surprise people when they least expect it.

What do you love about being in Pear class?

Mrs Horne-Smith:

I love being in Pear class as we spend our days playing. At its simplest, we know all people; young and old, learn best through play. That is what we are so good at in Pear class. We construct, create, imagine and produce - no day, hour or minute is the same. In Pear class we see you begin your reading and writing journey and become magical mathematicians! I look forward to seeing where your curiosity leads us, as I know it will take us to wonderful places!

Mrs Vicky:

I love being in Pear class and seeing all of the children grow in confidence and being a part of their learning journey. As well as helping the children I help Mrs Horne-Smith too!

Why do you think you make a great team?

Mrs Horne-Smith:

Mrs Vicky is super tidy and organised and I enjoy making lots of mess, so we balance each other out! We both like having lots of fun and making the classroom a happy place for all of you boys and girls!

Mrs Vicky:

We both want to see all of you children be happy and have lots of fun while at school. We are both very caring and enthusiastic about our role within the classroom.
